KWV has been awarded the Sarel Roussouw Trophy, for the most successful exhibitor at this years Paarl region Young Wine Show competition. KWV was also awarded another 9 Trophies, and won 10 of the 16 trophies on offer. This is an unprecedented achievement in the history of the competition, and was a great follow up to winning the top Shiraz in the Santam Agriculture Paarl Shiraz/Chenin Challenge earlier this month.
The Young Wine Show competition, established in 1974, is a platform for wineries to showcase the best of their current vintage wines. Wineries from Wellington, Franschhoek and Tulbagh participated in the Paarl regional competition.
In addition to the trophies above, KWV were also awarded five gold medals for Sauvignon Blanc, a Dry White Blend, Shiraz, Malbec and Cabernet Franc.

Wintrust Tophy - Champion Non Muscat Fortified (Ruby Port )
”The results of the Regional Young Wine Show highlights the quality of winemaking within the KWV cellars and given the success in this year’s competition, we are very positive about the future performance of our 2011 wines. ” said KWV’s Chief Winemaker, Richard Rowe. These wines are destined for KWV’s range of brands that are sold in more than 40 markets.
Winners in the regional competition compete on a national level in the SA Young Wine Show, the results of which will be announced on Friday, 19 August.
